Sam Jaeger answered some fan questions on the Parenthood Facebook page:
Q: What are some of your favorite traditions (daily, seasonally, etc.) that you love about being on parenthood and with this cast?
A: “That’s a wonderful question! I love getting to work at the stages and walking into the makeup trailer. That’s usually when I first see Erika and the rest of the cast. It’s also the epicenter of our show, in a way. We start talking about the day’s work, catching up with the wonderful ladies that doll all of us up, and eat breakfast. (..) I’m usually there early, though, since it takes a long time to put this large prosthetic nose on.”
Q: You guys are soo good on the show. I feel like you represent a more standard view of the home. But as the season has progressed it seems primed for a wedge between you. How will we see you change from season one.
A: “I know how serious you guys take Joel and Julia’s relationship. And trust us, we do too (sometimes sleepless nights, to be honest). This has been a really challenging season to shoot, since it deals with a bridge I’m not sure Erika or I ever envisioned crossing. But… relationships do get tested. And I think there’s a benefit to watching these tests play out on our show. Parenthood’s strength is not that our characters are ideal, but that they’re human. They are fallible. And watching two people go through something, like we’re seeing this season, helps us to determine for ourselves as viewers exactly what our own boundaries are.”
